Lisette Oropesa was born on September 29, 1983, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Cuban parents. Initially trained as a flutist, she later switched her focus to voice and graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in vocal performance. Her career took flight in 2005 when she became a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Since then, she has emerged as one of the leading lyric coloratura sopranos of her generation.
